One reason you may not be getting the referrals you hope for

If you want to receive quality referrals for potential clients who are a great fit for your business make sure your referral partners know exactly who you can help and what makes you stand out from the crowd.

By Brenda Thomson

As you can probably imagine I know lots of business owners and among them lots of mortgage brokers. Over the past three months I have received three requests for referrals to mortgage brokers. I referred the three people to three DIFFERENT mortgage brokers. So how did I decide who to refer to?

It was NOT based on:

  • who I had known the longest
  • who I like the best
  • a round robin
  • whether or not they are a member of one of my networking groups
  • where they are geographically located

It was based on who I thought was the best match for the person asking for help.

I looked at my list of all the mortgage brokers I know well and trust and I matched them up based on their Unique Selling/Value Proposition and their niche market. Three different people – three different referrals.

If you want to receive quality referrals for potential clients who are a great fit for your business make sure your referral partners know exactly who you can help and what makes you stand out from the crowd.
